Been There Done That Going There Peer Consultation
Jennifer Erickson, MA, LPC
Contact leader for schedule
Join our FREE monthly gathering for both licensed and pre-licensed therapists. Your experience is valuable, whether you are new to the field or have years of experience. This is a space to share insights and opinions or to ask and answer questions about cases in a confidential, nonjudgmental environment within a private home-office setting. If there are no urgent cases to discuss, we can explore topics such as the unique challenges of working in different therapy settings (community mental health, group practice, private practice, and schools); navigating boundaries, transference, and countertransference; addressing burnout and self-care with genuine compassion; and building a trustworthy professional network and business contacts.

This is a monthly donation-based peer consultation group for fellow therapists 🤍 This will be a supportive space for connection, collaboration, case consultation, learning, and community with other clinicians. My hope is to create a space where therapists can feel supported both personally and professionally. While this group is donation-based to help support the time and energy that goes into facilitating it, we’d truly rather have you there than your money. If cost is a barrier, please still come. What is a peer consultation group?
A peer consultation group is a small group of clinicians who meet regularly to discuss cases and support each other. No one evaluates anyone, and each member keeps responsibility for their own clients. Some peer groups are fully leaderless; others have an organizer or facilitator who keeps the group running.
The groups on this page either use “peer” in their name or were tagged as peer consultation by the person who listed them. Read each listing for how the group runs and what it costs.
How to choose a group
- Ask whether the group is leaderless or has a facilitator, and how case presentations are shared.
- Check whether the group is closed (the same members over time) or open to new members.
- Ask about cost. Some peer groups are free or donation-based, and others charge a fee.
- If you need hours toward licensure or a certification, ask whether the group can provide them. Peer consultation usually does not.
Common questions
- Is peer consultation the same as peer supervision?
- The terms are often used interchangeably, but no supervision takes place in a peer group: no one evaluates the others or shares responsibility for their clients. That is why peer consultation generally does not count toward licensure hours.
- Are peer consultation groups free?
- Many informal peer groups are free, but not all. Some are donation-based, and some charge a fee to cover organizing or facilitation. Each listing shows its cost.
