About This Group
Supervision in Practice is an ongoing, small-group space for therapists who provide clinical supervision. We bring the questions, dilemmas, and experiences that arise in our supervisory work and think about them together with other supervisors. Our conversations might include: - A supervisee whose clinical judgment concerns you - Giving difficult feedback without damaging the supervisory relationship - Balancing support with accountability - Supervising someone whose clinical style is very different from your own - Working with dependency, avoidance, defensiveness, or overconfidence - Knowing when to teach and when to let a supervisee find their own way - The evaluative responsibilities of being a supervisor - Boundaries, authority, and responsibility - What to make of your own frustration, anxiety, protectiveness, or investment in a supervisee - Navigating the overlap between the supervisor and employer roles - Managing situations where clinical judgment, workplace expectations, and organizational policies collide - Setting boundaries when a supervisee's needs as an employee and their needs as a developing clinician pull in different directions - The moments when supervision doesn't seem to be working—and figuring out why
